Legal structure

An investor wishing to set up a business in Gabon can make use of a wide range of legal constructs to that end, be it an incorporated partnership, an undeclared partnership or an economic interest grouping (GIE). But the most widespread forms of incorporation are the public limited company (SA) and the private limited company (SARL).

Since the entry into force on 1 January 1998 of the OHADA uniform act governing trading companies and economic interest groupings, Gabon has been part of the OHADA space which encompasses sixteen countries that have decided to make consistent their legislation especially insofar as commercial matters are concerned.
